Your organization can help the Northern Virginia Imagination Library put age-appropriate, high-quality books into the hands and homes of children from birth to age 5 in our community. Your organization can sponsor, or co-sponsor, one month of postage and be recognized on the book label.

The Northern Virginia Imagination Library is the local program partner of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, serving children across Northern Virginia. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to foster a love of reading by mailing free, high-quality books to children from birth to age 5.
With your support, we can grow this program so every child in Northern Virginia can have access to books at home.
How It Works
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth to age 5every single month, at no cost to their families.
The Northern Virginia Imagination Library is responsible for covering the costs of the books and mailing. Our goal in 2026 is to raise enough funds to launch the program. We plan to starting with enrolling children in the City of Alexandria in the fall.
Why It Matters
Children with books at home are more likely to succeed in school. Just 25 books can equal two extra years of education. Studies have shown that families that participate in in the Imagination Library program read together more often, boosting early language skills, and communities see Kindergarten readiness scores rise by up to 15%.
